Born in Huntington Beach, CA, Mike began making films with his friends in high school using his father's half inch video camera... well, the camera wasn't half inch, the tape was.
Curious to learn more about the film industry, Mike landed internships with both Cinergi and Nomad/Lightmotive. There he was able to read endless screenplays and sit in on story meetings. The story telling bug began to take hold.
After a year of working as an executive assistant for Hallway Pictures/Warner Bros., scheduling lunches and rolling phone calls, Mike soon realized that he would become a full blown boozer if he kept this up. He left the job to pursue screenwriting, and soon after, directing, and soon after that, became a full blown boozer. Mike then started his own production company, Epic Joe Entertainment, and made his directorial debut with a short film, which he also wrote, The Strain. A horror/thriller, The Strain is the story of a young doctor who returns home from overseas to discover he has been infected with a mysterious virus.
The Strain was accepted into film festivals around the country, including The New York Horror Film Festival, Chicago Horror Festival, and The Freak Show Horror Film Festival. "The Strain" won Honorable Mention at the Tabloid Witch Horror Film Festival and secured distribution with Crypt Club Production's AAAAH! Indie Horror Hits, Volume 2, due out September 2009.
In early 2009, Mike wrapped his second short film, Being Jason, which he also wrote and directed. Being Jason tells the story of Jason Voorhees ("Friday the 13th"), arguably the world's most feared serial killer, as he struggles to rediscover himself. After several failed attempts to start a new career, Jason falls to a new low only to be mentored by a peer of legendary status.
Mike is currently writing a feature comedy, which he will also direct. Production will begin in late 2010.
Mike Doyle lives with his wife and daughter in Redondo Beach, CA.
After working for many years in the entertainment industry as an actor, Prem Shah decided he wanted more creative control and started Premster Productions. Since its inception, Premster Productions has produced commercials for the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and recently wrapped the short film Being Jason. The project came to Prem due to his one-year old daughter playing on his cell phone and accidently dialing Mike Doyle, a long time friend Prem had recently lost touch with. From that call, Prem and Mike met for lunch and from that lunch grew Being Jason and other projects that are currently in development. It just goes to show, that in life, there are no accidents.
Prem is currently working on another project with Mike Doyle, an indie feature, as well as getting a full production slate ready for 2010.
